How to Bundle Your Wires Without a Clamp - "Wire Stacking" Method

When you’re first starting out, you may not have a clamp on hand or even painter’s tape. So, how do you hold all your wires together?

Well, here’s a method I learned early on that will help you weave that bundle of wires together.

It’s called “wire stacking”. Basically, you just stack each wire on as you go. Start with the initial base wire and wrap the weaving wire around it 3 times to secure the wire. Then, weave in the next wire based on the pattern you’re following. Continue adding base wires in until they have all been collected. (I’m weaving a triangle/zigzag weave to demonstrate this method). From there the weaving process gets much easier.

It’s also a great way to bundle your wires without having to worry about damaging your wire or having to remove a sticky residue left by tape.

**Demonstration Using the "Triangle/Zigzag" Weave**

STEP 1 - Wrap the weaving wire around the base wire 3 times to start the weave. Next, stack the next wire on top of the first and wrap the weaving wire around it 2 times.

STEP 2 - Stack another base wire on top of the previous wire and wrap the weaving wire around the 2nd and 3rd base wires 2 times. Add your 4th base wire and wrap the weaving wire around the 3rd and 4th base wires 2 times.

STEP 3 - Stack yet another wire on top of the previous wire and wrap the weaving wire around the 4th and 5th base wires 2 times. From there, you can begin the descending weave and weave as you normally would, but now all the wires are bundled together.
